BRIEFING – Red Bull Ring

35 Laps , 151.20 km
42.0+ Liters suggested. Always check with your own driving.

4.32 km, ~1.15 Liters per lap

  • No active overtakes until after Turn 1 Right, magenta in the map above.
  • However, causing an accident until Turn 4 Right, light blue in the map above, will be penalized as an accident in the no pass zone.
  • Careful about the slow down, concertina effect in the early laps
  • Remember that 3-wide active attacks in lap 1 are forbidden, no matter how tempting they might be.
  • Always keep two wheels on track on corner entry. The ‘track’ is delimited by the solid white lines. Any part of the inside tyre beyond the white line will be considered off-track and susceptible to penalty.
Aim to keep the inside wheels clearly on the tarmac; if you then go a little over by mistake it won’t be a problem. By contrast, if you aim to be at the absolute limit even a small mistake might push you in penalty territory.

The car in the first image below is on track; the second is off-track

Track limits (on entry) will be strictly enforced in T1, T3, T4, T6, T7, T9 (see map).
In turn 7, you need to have two wheels on track before corner entry, by the end of the white/green paint at the end of T6 exit (two images below).

Turn 10 (last corner) entry is considered exit from T9 and the white line track limits are not going to be enforced strictly. However, please aim to put your right wheels on the white/red curb before turn in for T10; that means before the end of the red (austrian flag) in the image below. Purposedly staying wider than that might result in penalties.

  • You should not be overly worried about 1x off-tracks. However, if you keep getting a 1x in the same place it means that you are doing something wrong and should try to adjust your driving, just like in qualify. There will be a possible penalty check above 25 incident points.
  • In exception to the above, repeated 1x in the last two corners may result in a post-race time penalty even well before the above mentioned 25 inc limit.
