Racing Tips
Turn 1 Right
You might be tempted to overtake here. Don’t do it. Difficult corner that will push the cars wide – side by side requires great control and cooperation by both drivers.
Turns 2 to 5: The Esses
The Esses are not a place to overtake, not even to pass lapped cars. When you are lapping, be patient and wait for a better spot later in the lap.
When you are being lapped, drive your line as best as you can and get out of the way just after the Esses.
We have seen many accidents due to people trying to make room for the leader and ending up crossing their line in the next corner instead.
Turn 6 Right
No passing here as well under normal racing conditions. Short braking into a fast corner. You should be concerned to line up the car correctly for the following corner, arguably the most important of the track since it’s followed by the longest straight. Side by side here will achieve nothing and just slow you down.
Turn 7 Right
Once again, no passing under normal racing. Get a good exit and you will overtake easily on the following straight. Get side by side here and you will at best lose a lot of time, at worst cause a crash either on entry (especially if dive bombing) or exit (tracking out wide and collecting the other car).
Turn 10: Chicane
The chicane is the best overtaking spot on the track.
Please be ready to leave room to allow side by side racing and, of course, avoid dive bombing. Draft on the long straight and attack either on the inside or outside. Sometimes it is better not to defend here, to avoid losing time going side by side through the chicane.
Turns 11 and 12 Right
No passing here under normal racing conditions. If your opponent makes a mistake exiting the chicane, however, there is room to go side by side through these flat out corners. These are also the last overtaking spots in a race, on the last lap.
