BRIEFING – Phillip Island

34 Laps , 151.0 km
44.0+ Liters suggested. Always check with your own driving.

4.44 km, ~1.25 Liters per lap
  • No active overtakes until after Turn 2 Left, magenta in the map above.
  • However, causing an accident until Turn 6 Left, light blue in the map above, will be penalized as an accident in the no pass zone.
  • Careful about the slow down, concertina effect, particularly at the two hairpins (T4 and T10)
  • No lapping at Lukey Heights, Turn 9 Left. Give way before or after that.
  • Use the long pit exit, going left at the fork as indicated by the red cone. It gives more time to assess the situation to both you and other cars on track and does not put you immediately on the racing line as the short exit does. Exception: when qualify starts it is ok to use the short exit since no car is coming up on the track.
  • Getting a bit of dirt on the outside approaching Turn 9 (or turn 2) is not going to be a big deal. However, you should not aim for that. The key words are ‘a bit of’, keeping the tyres on the dirt for a significant amount of time will be penalized. ‘Significant’ is at the stewards’ discretion
